Fmr. Captain Kevin Johnson
“After graduating from the United States Military Academy at West Point, I served as an Army Captain in Bayji, Iraq. My tour in Iraq was served in the shadow of seemingly endless oil fires, as insurgents attacked pipelines at a nearby refinery in an attempt to cripple the country’s economy. At the same time, our own military’s dependence on fossil fuels was placing thousands of my fellow soldiers in harm’s way.
My proudest professional accomplishment was safely returning all one hundred thirty of my Soldiers home to their families upon redeployment from Bayji in 2005. My experience taught me that reducing our dependence on fossil fuels will make our nation more secure and bring more soldiers home safely.
Service to country will remain central in my life as I strive to become a leader in the clean energy economy. I, along many of our veterans, ranging from the rank of Private to General, are returning from a decade of war with a similar commitment to securing our nation’s energy future while combating the impacts of climate change. Together with fellow Veteran and Operation Free founder Jon Powers, I am proud to have founded CleanCapital. CleanCapital is a financial technology company that makes it easy to invest in clean energy. CleanCapital allows accredited investors—including institutional investors, family offices, and investment funds—to invest in secure and diversified clean energy projects.
As an advocate for the Operation Free and White House Champion of Change, I continue to lead the charge for a more sustainable and secure energy future for our Nation.”
